Late this afternoon, my brother (one of 3) called me about a bumper sticker he had just seen on a car. It read, “Jesus is God.” His question to me, was that a true statement. I answered him and said, “yes, Jesus is part of the Trinity and that he is both Jesus and God.” I then explained that this is one of the glorious mysteries from God – the Trinity– God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
In no time at all, you could tell that we were brothers as our conversation grew into a loud debate. Please don’t get me wrong, we didn’t say anything that we would later regret, but it was a discussion led by pride as to who would reign victorious in the argument.
Pride – the down fall of man.
I do love my brother of course, and I should have known that my flesh would want to rear its ugly head and swell up in pride in our conversation. About an hour later, I was reminded just how important it is to stay in the spirit and exhibit Agape love in all my speech.
Everything ended well and I know that God is working on his heart and that God is helping me with the log in my eye that had temporally blinded me.
Humility is a gift to be sought after with all our might for the Glory of God.
