    Psalm 103:1-5 (ESV)

    “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit,
    who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”

    These verses from Psalm 103 are not only good for your arsenal of memorized scriptures, but also for your daily morning devotion. To start out your day praising the name of the Lord with all your strength, joy and gladness is not only appropriate, but essential in the life of a Christian. And after some time in worship, we then move on to remember all that God is for us, and has done for us in Christ Jesus.

    Each morning we should remember, yes even list all the benefits that God has blessed us with. I am reminded that David did the same thing going up against Goliath in 1 Samuel 17:37 – “And David said, “The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine…”

    David had remember what God had already done for him – powerful things – and having those memory’s fresh on his mind and heart, David was victorious over what seemed liked insurmountable odds in human terms, but not so in God’s terms. And so it is with the “giants” in our life.

    Remembering what God has already done for us and pondering these things at the beginning of each day, will strengthen our faith as we move through the day serving the Lord. Our daily battles are glorifying to God when we stand on His benefits, empowered by the victory of the Cross, filled with the Holy Spirit and charge head long in life knowing that we are delivered, healed and crowned with steadfast love and mercy.

  • Day 40 “My soul longs…”

    It has been a wonderful journey in the first 40 days of the rest of my life in desiring God. God has shown himself to me in marvelous ways and Satan has tried to discourage me but I stand victorious in the precious blood and grace of Jesus Christ.

    The one thing I have learned is how much God loves me and no matter what the circumstance, I have great joy and satisfaction in all that God is for me in Christ Jesus.

    I highly recommend reading “Desiring God” by John Piper. It’s the kind of book that you will refer to often. It was the inspiration for this blog and the change in my way of worship. It is my prayer that anyone reading this blog will grow beyond where I have and that you to will find this great joy in our Lord and Saviour Jesus.

    “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.” — John Piper

    God’s word sums up my experience and may it never die…

    Psalm 84

    1 How lovely is Your tabernacle,
    O LORD of hosts!
    2 My soul longs, yes, even faints
    For the courts of the LORD;
    My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

    3 Even the sparrow has found a home,
    And the swallow a nest for herself,
    Where she may lay her young—
    Even Your altars, O LORD of hosts,
    My King and my God.
    4 Blessed are those who dwell in Your house;
    They will still be praising You.  Selah

    5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in You,
    Whose heart is set on pilgrimage.
    6 As they pass through the Valley of Baca,
    They make it a spring;
    The rain also covers it with pools.
    7 They go from strength to strength;
    Each one appears before God in Zion.

    8 O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer;
    Give ear, O God of Jacob!  Selah
    9 O God, behold our shield,
    And look upon the face of Your anointed.

    10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand.
    I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
    Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
    11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
    The LORD will give grace and glory;
    No good thing will He withhold
    From those who walk uprightly.

    12 O LORD of hosts,
    Blessed is the man who trusts in You!
