  • Foundations – Back to Basics – The 7 Essential Principles of Christian Doctrine

    The Inerrancy of the Bible.

Dictionary.com defines inerrancy as; 1 – “lack of error; infallibility.” 2 – “the belief that the Bible is free from error in matters of science as well as those of faith.”

There have been many people who have set out to prove the bible wrong since it was written by man stating that since man is not perfect, then the bible is not perfect. Some of those people have to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and turned their lives over to God and now become some of the best in Apologetics. Most notable, Josh McDowell and Lee Strobel.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that all scripture is God breathed, that is, God gave us His word to man through His Holy Spirit. God has chosen to reveal himself through creation – all that is –  and the Bible which is His revealed word.

If the Bible is not true, then nothing in Christianity is true. This is the point that agnostics try to make. The reality is that people who try to prove the Bible wrong really are only hiding the fact that they are sinners in need of a Savior. The truth is that mankind cannot live up to God’s standards and through man’s pride he tries to bring God down instead of submitting themselves to the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ who came to this earth and become the sacrifice for the sins of man and make a way for us to come back into fellowship with God.

2 Peter 1:20-21 tells us that no prophecy comes by mans own interpretations but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

The Bible is the infallible word of God. Anyone who will read the bible will find God through His Son Jesus Christ.

  • Foundations – Back to Basic – The Bible

2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that the bible is the inspired word of God. It is the revelation of who God is and what His will for our life is to be.

It is profitable for Doctrine –  to gain the knowledge of God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ and His commandments.

For reproof – stern disapproval – the bible shows us God’s disapproval of sin.

For correction – the Greek word for correction is: “epanorthõsis” and is found only in 2 Timothy 3:16 and is one of the God ordained purposes of Holy Scripture.

For instruction in righteousness – how to live  a Holy life for the glory of Jesus Christ.

In 2 Timothy 3:17 we find the reason for scripture – to be made complete and equipped for every good work. The bible is the absolute authority of God and has stood the test of time. For centuries people have tried to discredit the bible and can’t. In fact, there have been many people who set out to prove the bible wrong and have come to a saving knowledge of our Lord and become born again. When you study scripture, you will find the one true God and His Son Jesus Christ and come to the realization no one is good – no not one, and we are in need of a Savior.

In getting back to basics, we need not only to study God’s word but also to hide it in our hearts. Memorizing the bible is paramount in our daily walk with Jesus and for finding that great joy that only exists in our desire to fellowship with Him. Knowing God’s word and having it over flow from our hearts is key to living victorious. By memorizing the scriptures, we grow in our faith in knowing that God’s promises-His word-will not return to Him void, and that it will come to pass. We can count on God to fulfil His word more than life itself.

  • Day 37 “What’s in Your Heart”

Jesus said in the book of Matthew, “out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.” And it’s true. Just watch someone (maybe yourself) when they bend over to pick something up and unexpectedly hit their head on the edge of a counter and listen to what comes out of their mouth. We’ve all done it or something like it, and have said things we wish we could take back.

In living a life that is pleasing to the Lord, it is very important to fill our hearts with Gods word so that in any given moment, out of our mouths comes  the comfort of His promises. This isn’t just when we need it for ourselves, but more importantly, to edify others and help them in their time of need.

God’s word will stand forever. It will not crumble away. We can take great comfort in knowing that His word will not return unto Him void. By hiding scripture in our heart, we can stand on a firm foundation that cause us to be a well-spring of blessing for ourselves and all those around us.
