Day 31 “Leading by Example”

The inspiration for this blog came from the ministry of John Piper. I have read several of his books and have come to endear his ministry. There is no doubt in my mind that John desires God and that the Lord has blessed his ministry. John Piper is the senior pastor of Bethlehem Baptists Church in Minneapolis, MN.

John’s passion is his joy in being satisfied with all that God is for him in Christ Jesus. I have been blessed with life changing messages from the Lord through John’s sermons and books. I have to be very careful not to idolize John – the temptation to make him one of my hero’s is strong.

My hero is Jesus, the Son of the living God in whom there is salvation. Amen!

But even a Godly man like John has to take time to search his heart to see if there is anything that could hinder his fellowship and worship of our Lord and Savior Jesus christ.

On the Desiring God website, John has written a letter explaining his decision to take a few months off to strengthen his relationship with God and his wife and family. You can read the letter here: http://www.desiringgod.org/ResourceLibrary/TasteAndSee/ByDate/2010/4555_John_Pipers_Upcoming_Leave/

And so it is with me. Though I cannot take time off from work, I am spending more time with God and to purposefully pursue Him. And there, in the throne room of grace is the joy and peace and the fulfillment of all there is in Jesus. My passion and desire to serve God and spend glorious time with Him grows daily.

P.S., this post is late to more internet down time. Ya gotta love technology.
