Day 30 “The Funeral”

I attended a funeral today for the sister of a very good friend of mine. Her name was Francis Holland and she was a believer in Christ Jesus. This I know not just because I was told by my friend, but by the evidence of the fruit of her life.

Lots of people spoke about her life, both in the service and while attending the viewing. There is no doubt that when she saw Jesus, He said “Well done thou good a faithful servant.” Francis’ life was filled not only serving her Lord and Savior, but serving others for His glory.

This is the kind of life that I(we) should strive for. Not to be praised by man at our funeral, but serving others with Agape love – an unconditional love and all for the Glory of God. This brings joy into our lives.

There is an acronym for joy that helps me to keep things in perspective. J – for Jesus first, O – for others second, and Y – for yourself last. Living for Jesus and serving others brings great joy and peace that transcends all understanding. This is evidenced by the fact that the world denies God and believes in putting our own needs and desires first.

To live for Jesus and His glory is to be at odds with the world.
