Today has been a very heavy day for me. Over the weekend, a friend of mine’s sister passed away. She had been sick for a while and her husband had been attending to her 24/7 for the past 7 years or so. Her name was Francis and she was a born again believer so there is tremendous joy in that knowledge. However, it’s still very hard on my friend.
Also, I have found out that another friend from my former church has cancer and been given about 6 to 12 months to live. She too is saved but it’s still so hard.
But, we do have the promises of God. Promises so absolute that we have the blessed assurance they will come to pass. First, we as believers have Jesus. We have the promise that His grace is sufficient. I don’t always understand it, but it is enough. We know that Jesus has prepared a room for His children in Heaven. We know through our salvation that we will spend eternity in Heaven in perfection. No more tears, no pain, no suffering. Perfect bliss in the Glory of our King and our God.
This is the same for both of my friends. One has already gone to be with the Lord. A glorious homecoming. The second will soon join all those whom God is calling home.
The reality is we will all will die unless of course, we are raptured out first. Until then, we mourn over the passing of our friends and loved ones with the assurance of God’s grace and mercy and being swallowed up in His infinite Love.
Oh the joy and hope we have in Jesus.
